Catalyst of August 30th
The blizzard of 1977 had caused it to snow heavily, and when the snow melted, the river rose and washed out the chemicals and brought them to the surface of the Love Canal. The health hazards were ranging from minor illness to the danger of death and major diseases. Cancer, kidney and lung cancer, heart problems, birth defects, and more were at high chances. Other animals such as birds and even bugs could have been contaminated at some point during this incident, or at the very least, lost their habitats. Plants, even, had to suffer through burning and dying out. Those chemicals caused the area to become inhospitable, and impossible to truly be safe in.
